Andy was also having heart palpitations and was kept in hosptial to make sure that he could be treated for heart attack.
Also, the story is fictional so, does it really matter who pays for a fictional, character's, financial situation? Maybe Andy was being rich and could afford private, hospital care? Also, public, hosptial care, in Australia, is free.
